Intro
The Half Note's story began in 1985, born from Frank Purita's deep passion for incredible music and his love for the jazz community. For decades, Frank dreamed of creating a space where exceptional jazz could thrive. In 2018, his dream came to life in the heart of Greenport Village, where The Half Note found its first home.
Tragically, later that same year, Frank was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, and by early 2019, he lost his courageous battle, leaving behind an unfinished legacy. Though the doors to his dream closed, Frank’s vision and spirit endured through his daughter, who has worked tirelessly to honor his memory.
Today, The Half Note is a testament to Frank's love for jazz and community. With a new, permanent location on the North Fork, we are proud to carry forward his legacy, offering a haven for jazz enthusiasts to gather, celebrate, and keep the music alive. The Half Note is more than just a venue—it’s a tribute to passion, resilience, and the enduring power of music.
